My goal is to create simple, timeless, elegant pieces for women to enjoy many years ahead.

My name is Neringa Aiello and I am a wife, a mother of two little boys, creator and a maker of my jewelry DesignbyNeringa.

I was born and raised in Lithuania. Since I was little, I was always interested in design, art, style… I went to school for design and technology before embarking on a new adventure to the US. While here, I was inspired to create timeless pieces for women to enjoy for many years to come. I started in my little studio at home with just basic tools, which I still work with now. I learn that you don’t need much, just a lot of attention to details and love for your work. I love every piece I work on, so I just hope you will love and enjoy it too.

Signs O’ Fire began with a small pile of scrap wood that was too beautiful to put in the trash. For 4 years since that pile has grown, along with the business itself. I love to travel and show my work to others, share the stories of where this piece of cedar or pine came from and sell driftwood pieces with words like love and peace burned on them.

People appreciate and recognize I use scrap wood which is wonderful to me. It’s always been recycled materials that really capture my imagination to create them into something else. A puzzle, a challenge and a dream. I feel strongly about caring for our environment, this work helps me send these messages in the images of trees flowers and animals alongside literary genius’ and poets words. “Unless someone like you cares an awful lot, nothing will get better, it’s not.” My hero Dr. Seuss and his words like those have made me like the Lorax ; I speak for the trees.

I am thankful for the many donations from builders and beachcombers. I keep this business viable by rarely buying supplies and materials. When customers ask for custom pieces of a particular size I explain my mode of operation and they appreciate the lower cost to them for that reason.

Signs O’ Fire can be found weekends at The Fantastic Umbrella Factory through the summer with occasional shows on Block Island at the BI historical society shows on Sundays in July and August. Weekly shows like Wed. nights at the Guild and Thursday nights on Main St. in Wakefield are favorite locations for me because of the socialization it brings to balance my life of making art in the studio. Rhythm and Roots on Labor day weekend in Charlestown is also on the list of shows this season, such fun dancing and selling artwork at the same time! I consider myself very fortunate to have found this medium of pyrography as it has captured my attention for 4 years. I have recently expanded to working in ceramics and on the table at the Narragansett Arts  Guild on Wed. nights you will find my first explorations with clay.  I am grateful for the support of other artisans such as the guild members. Selling alongside talented makers inspires me to keep going, making more art and continue my dream of being a working artist.

Mike is an unassuming artist.  He accepts compliments with a blush and offers beautiful landscapes of RI. So many images that resonate with us locals as well; RI icons like the Dells cup, the Awful Awful and a Narragansett beer can. His work makes sense to all locals and visitors with subjects featuring beautiful mermaids, sandy beaches, large sunflowers, hanging buoys and beach umbrellas.  His glowing oranges and yellows create a sense of warmth and light, infused with his own distinct style.

Other than being a full time Narragansett Arts Guild artist he is a very busy guy doing shows everywhere from Boston to Block Island and he is also;

Isn’t this piece amazing! Steve Tegu, a lifetime maker has really captured our playful side with his work. Narragansett Arts Guild loves having him display his work. If you have been to the show you will know why. His display is wonderful: full of wonder are the eyes of the beholder! Interactive, Kinetic and so Creative! The season is here! We are officially full to capacity and ready to begin!

The posters are being put up all over town to announce the 2017 season start…

 What a great summer it proves to be, many returning artisans and many new vendors! Each tent you will see this summer will be inhabited by the MAKER of the art you will see, something that is important to the Guild as a whole. Each vendor is also a LOCAL, RI resident which is equally as important. We will feature each artisan in a brief post so you can get to know them. Here is a list of all vendors and a bit about what they offer. Of course seeing the work in person and speaking with each artist should be on your to do list coming up June 28th, thought we should introduce ourselves first.

First the organizational team consists of Don from Photography from Sand Hill Cove and Karen from Signs O’ Fire. These two met vending together at the local farmers market, both were searching for the perfect venue and are very happy now that they have found it in Narragansett Arts Guild.

2017 returning vendors;

• Anita Bevans, a RI native and talented jeweler from Moonlight Jewelry has something for everyone; feelings of serenity and peace shine through in her work.
• Mike Bryce returns to make gazebo park brighter with his amazing large and small paintings of local RI scenes, beautiful portraits of mermaids, sunflowers and beaches.
• Steve Tegu from Esteverde will delight the crowd with his creative display~like nothing you’ve ever seen before, which shows off his jewelry, sculpture and local treasures so well.
• Art by Seth is back again giving us a taste of his wonderful style of painting and interesting subject matter ~which he often does on site to impress us all.
• Signs O’ Fire is back under the orange tent with portraits of nature and signs using re-purposed wood. Her process is writing with fire~ aka pyrography.
• DAS Photography by Dave Sieczkiewicz, a local ocean lover and photographer, his work is captivating and once you learn his process and hear his stories you will be amazed.
• Don from Photography from Sand Hill Cove shows us all the beauty of our coastline and town with his fantastic images of Narragansett large and small.

Three new artisans join the guild this year plus a very exciting new addition ~~

• Henna Body Art! Local artist Stephanie from HHStudioRI is excited to join the guild and make all of us look and feel more beautiful and happy this summer with her amazing henna designs.
• Earth Ware Collective is an exciting group that will be showing off their talents in ceramics this year. A small group of RIC students have created a collective of their pottery, each week featuring a different artist, all with tons of talent and energy!
• Mary Walsh from Be Creative Mary is another Narragansett native artist who has her hands busy working in clay, which is as creatively colorful as her paintings. Her bright and cheerful style will make you smile and wonder how she does it all. 
• Painting Daisies is a new vendor, the work of Tracey Lee has a seaside meets vintage flair, creating candle holders, hat pins, fabric and paper art galore!
• Design by Neringa is just that, elegant and statement jewelry designed by Neringa, a local whose style is more than classically beautiful~truly stunning necklaces and earrings! Her sweet manor and smile will make you want to chat with her for hours about her wonderful pieces.

In addition to all of this creativity every Wednesday Night in Narraganset we offer spaces for Local Non-profits to display and sell for their organization. The calendar is nearly full only 2 spots left! We will share all of their info soon as the calendar is complete.

There are only a few weeks left to wait for opening night. Surely the artists are gathering speed getting ready and on June 28th our ten week season starts at 5 p.m.

Without support from the local community and the town of Narragansett we would all be starving artists! We are getting excited for 2017 summer season, the greatest yet for sure!

Don Cameron from Narragansett is the founding father of Gansett Arts Guild- He gathered the Artisans by the beach 3 years ago.

“I have a strong interest in the preservation of the port of Galilee as a fishing community, and I support the fishermen who work from the port. I have images of over 200 fishing boats that sail from and bring their catches home to Galilee. Like many others, I am concerned that without appropriate regulation of the fishing industry this valuable resource will be unable to survive.”

“I walk most mornings from my home to the Port of Galilee and almost always find something of interest to photograph. I enjoy photographing shore birds, flowers, sunrises, sunsets and coastal scenes. It’s easy to sit for hours enjoying this great coastal environment and waiting to capture that perfect shot. ”

So now, finally, the sun is warming up the RI coastline. What a long and fairly miserable spring it has been so far! Today things are looking up warm sunshine and breezes, flowers blooming and bugs are everywhere=summer is coming!

This season at Gansett Arts we are excited to return to Gazebo Park with our tents,  original art work and bare feet. Once the season starts there will be little time for introductions so this May and early June we will feature our artists- the returning and the new- in a post so you can get to see what we have to offer this summer. As we gather our artisans and non- profits and fill up our calendar for the ten week long gig at the pier, please feel free to pass us on to groups or artisans you know who may like to join us for the summer or one evening.
