Get to know Dave, one of the most amazing water photographers around, and a guild member for a few years. His images are captivating, and we are so happy he is sharing his gift with us again this season. Please check out his work in person at our first show in two weeks, you must see his images displayed in his tent, large and powerful, also visit his images virtually here;
Hi, I am a water photographer. My work centers mostly around the waves here in the ocean state. Sunrises are my preferred time of the day to photograph but I’ve never been known to turn down a good sunset. My images are captured throughout the seasons from warm summer days to frigid winter swims, if somethings calling you just go. Outside from water and waves I also like to photograph landscapes and nature.
I became a professional photographer after a nagging burning desire was inside me to give it a shot as it’s something I’ve always wanted to pursue. So a few years ago I decided to go for it since then I’ve been working at perfecting my craft and now I sell fine art prints.
I draw my inspiration from the combination of the ocean and natural lighting. The movement of water and the reflective light qualities that it takes on memorizes me. I also love the challenge of trying to capture the spit second in time where the elements of moving water and light combine. Waves are like snowflakes no two are the same.
Most of my life has been spent residing in Rhode Island, with some occasional jaunts abroad. I participate in several local shows outside the guild such as Westerly Virtu Arts, Narragansett Art Festival, Wickford Art Festival, Niantic Art Show, Mystic Art Show, Scituate Art Festival, Art Providence Holiday Show, along with additional shows throughout New England and New York.
